Mélissa + Jake’s Wedding :: Candlelight Farms :: New Milford, CT

Mélissa and Jake were married at the beautiful Candlelight Farms Inn in New Milford, CT. Mélissa and Jake live in Wisconsin, so we never had the opportunity to meet in person before their wedding day but we did exchange quite a few emails and phone calls leading up to the big day. I could tell in speaking with Mélissa that they were planning a low key affair – a wedding without many of the typical formalities like a first dance, cake cutting, etc. They were planning on having a food truck serving (delicious) grilled cheese instead of a typical sit down dinner, and they were having made to order Belgian waffles instead of cake (also delicious). It’s always nice to cover weddings like this, where timelines are a little more relaxed and you really get a feel for what is important to the couple. Truly an enjoyable day. Enjoy the photos!

I started off with the Jake and the guys getting ready.

Then I headed over to hang out with Mélissa and the girls

Mélissa had her shoes hand painted by an artist

Mélissa and Jake opted for a first look before their ceremony

This is how it’s done!

Candlelight Farms is actually a working farm with livestock, so we got to meet Lilly the horse

And while we were shooting, Margot made friends with Fiona the donkey

With rain in the forecast and clouds building, Mélissa and Jake decided to just go for it and have the ceremony outside!

Mélissa and Jake did a beautiful job with their details

Mélissa and Jake didn’t have a cake, but that did cut the first waffle

As you might imagine, Belgian waffles are a big hit with kids

Later in the day the rain passed and we snuck out for a couple more photos
