Simon Carter video: The Rock Climber

Here is another example of the capability and versatility of video capable DSLRs. This video was shot by Simon Carter using the new Nikon D3s as a promo for Nikon. Check it out–it’s pretty impressive:


Ok, so it’s a cool video. Now check out the behind the scenes video on how he gets these shots. As if rock climbing in itself isn’t adventurous enough, he does it lugging around 15lbs of camera gear and strung up between two mountains. Awesome.

As a still photographer, there’s a couple things about having a video capable DSLR that I struggle with. The first is remembering that I have video capability, and being able to “see” a scene as video instead of a still photo. The second stumbling block is the workflow–I just haven’t found an easy way to edit video like I want to yet. It’s fun to keep trying though!
